Assessment

Assessment

Your child will be regularly assessed to determine the progress that he/she is making and to set individual and school targets. He/ she will be assessed during the first year at school. This is called the foundation stage profile. At times he /she will be given formal assessments to act as benchmarks. This is done as part of the National Curriculum Assessment in Years 2 and 6, but in intervening years the school has nationally approved procedures to give interim information. This will be shared with you as a basis for discussion of his/her progress.

The Merit System

At Overstone your child will be encouraged to do his/her best at school in classwork, sport and in their behaviour towards others. Achievements in these areas are rewarded in a variety of ways, the most tangible of which is the school's merit system, which will encourage your child through the award of certificates in recognition of his/her efforts.
